Iestyn has been blowing his unique studio glass for the past twenty two years, selling to galleries and top retail outlets
in the UK, Europe and the USA.
In early 2001, Iestyn decided to move away from giftware and concentrate instead on public art and and architectural
work, combining his glass with other materials for the first time.
Many of these bowls were produced in limited editions and now appear regularly on
TV programmes reviewing 'the antiques of the future'.
Two main techniques or interests are shown above; the first explores the multi-layering of transparent colours with opaque whites interspersing the translucent colours - this three-dimensional surface is then cut by the finest glass cutter, by hand, to iestyn’s design. Each oval cut becomes a lens once polished.
The second interest is in applying hot glass gathers onto blown forms; animal forms of creatures that share the fluidity of movement with that of hot glass.
